3 Zero Waste Products To Stay Away From

Hi Everyone,

This is the end of week six of my zero waste journey. So far everything has gone fairly well. I am in love with how my kitchen cupboards look lined with glass jars full of food. It's so easy to find what I need now and it's much more appealing to my OCD eye. I have also really enjoyed seeing how slowly the garbage can fills up now. Our bin was only half full last garbage day (from us and our downstairs neighbour). Major win!!

As I promised to share the ups and the downs of going zero waste with you all, here are three zero waste products I have tried and disliked. I would highly recommend NOT buying these items haha.

1) No Tox Life Dishwashing Block

You have probably seen this picture before, it was from my first zero waste grocery shop. I was so excited to try out this dishwashing block. Sadly, it sucked. It produced zero bubbles, even when held under hot water, and it left a cloudy film on all our glassware. In the end, I went back to liquid dish soap in a refillable container.

2) Nelson Naturals Spearmint Toothpaste

This was my first jar toothpaste purchase and I will never buy this brand again. It tasted super salty and you could hardly taste the spearmint. It was also too expensive. I have been begrudgingly trying to use it up these past few weeks.

When the jar is empty in a few months, I am going to try and make my own. This recipe has very good reviews - I am excited to try it out!

3) Loose leaf tea ball infusers

I am obsessed with loose leaf tea, my favourite company right now is Lake & Oak Tea Co.

I am sure most people have used a tea ball infuser before, and found it a bit annoying to clean. They also break really fast, especially when you drink 3 cups a day like me.

The Bodum was a game changer for me. I used a french press for coffee, why not tea? It's so much easier to clean than infusers balls and they have a long lifespan.

Here is one of my favourite french presses, besides Bodum.

I am patiently waiting for our Tushy to arrive in the mail so that I can set it up in the bathroom. Once that arrives I will be blogging about Zero Waste Bathroom Essentials. Stay tuned for that.

Have a wonderful Sunday night xo

Cheers,
